The History of Information at Sun – SunLibrary

SunLibrary or Digital Libraries & Research was part of Sun Microsystems for almost 20 years. Our mission was always to ensure Sun employees had access to the right information at the right time in order to drive a competitive edge, stay smart and make good decisions for Sun’s business. From the timeline below, you can see our focus on connecting people to information, people to people and our innovative approaches to information management, delivery and means to encourage information and knowledge sharing across the organization.
The information services we provided reduce the information and research cycle time for employees by providing quality content and knowledge/information sharing, enabling employees to move more quickly to learning and executing. The small team of information professionals that were and are part of this effort were and are passionate about information and the value it brings to business – we love our Sun Story and hope you do too!
